•JVC Showcases ProHD KA-F790 Fiber Optic transceiver packages for GY-HM790 camera at NAB 2011

WAYNE, NJ (April 11, 2011) – JVC Professional Products Company and Telecast Fiber Systems will showcase the new CopperHead™ ProHD KA-F790 camera-mounted fiber optic transceiver at the 2011 NAB Show, which runs April 11-14 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nev. (Booth C4314). Built exclusively for the JVC GY-HM790U ProHD camera, it is the first CopperHead to provide a direct connection to a camcorder without requiring external cables. The system was introduced last year at IBC2010 in Amsterdam, but this is the first time the KA-F790 will be on display at NAB.

Using a hidden 68-pin connector on the back of the GY-HM790U, the compact KA-F790 attaches directly to the camera body to provide full studio functionality in the field. The multiplexing system simultaneously transports bidirectional digital (SDI or HD-SDI) and analog (NTSC or PAL) video, as well as all two-way camera control, audio, video, data, sync, tally/call, prompter, and intercom signals between the camera head and the remote CopperHead Base Station. The lightweight, 1 RU Base Station easily integrates into any studio, mobile truck, or portable flypack – and plugs directly into a facility's switcher, router, intercom, and house sync systems.

“With a customized module that fits directly on the camera, the KA-F790 provides GY-HM790U users the convenience of fiber on location in an elegant and reliable solution,” said Lon Mass, vice president of sales and marketing, JVC Professional Products Company.

The KA-F790 is available in six configurations to address specific customer applications, including tactical (unpowered) fiber cable, hybrid (powered) cable with SMPTE or OpticalCON connectors, and a choice of RTS or Clear-Com intercom modules. Systems are priced from $11,995 and are available now.
