Unit well suited for many production environments, including OB truck, live event, TV studio, house of worship and educational settings

August 25, 2014

Tokyo, Japan, August 25, 2014 – At the upcoming IBC Show, taking place September 12-16 in Amsterdam, FOR-A Company Limited will unveil its HVS-XT2000 video production switcher, the newest addition to the XT switcher family. A flexible unit allowing up to 40 SDI inputs and 22 outputs, the easy-to-use XT2000 includes powerful features unavailable in other switchers in its class. FOR-A will showcase the XT2000 in its IBC booth, Hall 2, Stand A51.

The XT2K has a number of groundbreaking features and technologies never before enjoyed by operators. One exclusive feature of the 2 M/E XT2000 is MELite™, which allows a traditional AUX bus to transform into a functional M/E with cut, mix, wipe and key control. The unit runs on what has been dubbed a V6 XT2K engine, ready for SD, HD, Full HD (3G) and 4K production. The MELite™ feature provides the XT2000 with the production capabilities of a fully functional 6 M/E switcher. MELite™ is the building block for even more powerful, yet easy to use features such as upstream and downstream transition effects. Operators can deploy a MELite™ as a third M/E, transforming the switcher to a 3 M/E switcher with a 3 M/E panel. Users can also add a 1 M/E panel and allow a second operator to have the added power of a second fully functional switcher in another location, all from the V6 XT2K engine. The versatile, cost efficient HVS-XT2000 gives operators the power of 6 M/Es for multiple, independent, on-stage monitor display control.

Another exclusive feature of the switcher is ONStage™, a newly developed technology designed specifically for staging events, such as house of worship or corporate events where multiple image magnification displays are used, each with independent transitions. This is the first switcher mode that allows operators to see mix, wipe, key and DVE changes with full preview control connected directly to the lever arm transition area. With ONStage™, operators have more power and creativity in their video switching than ever before.

Another feature that provides additional flexibility and customization is FLEXaKEY™. With FLEXaKEY™, operators can tailor their production needs by adding and moving key and DVE layers to traditional M/E resources or to MELite™ resources. FLEXaKEY™ allows operators to select and multiply the layers and graphics they need, when they need them.

The switcher includes a four-channel media player capable of still image and clip store with memory back-up. Its panel memory system, P-MEM™, includes simple panel snap shot recall or events, sequence and macro memory recalls. Within the XT2000 is a new FOR-A-developed menu system inspired from customer feedback around the world. Called Midas Touch™, the menu system allows for easy configuration changes and full system control. The V6 XT2K includes frame synchronizers on every input, including valuable frame grab for image capture on any input. Re-sizer for SD to HD migration is also included. Furthermore, the system offers a total of 12 keyers, with up to 12 floating 2.5D and 3.0D DVE effects, and multiple user configurable multi-viewers are available with the switcher.

The switcher also features an easy to operate, highly functional control panel. The XT2000 control panel features crystal clear OLED source names displays, multiple color LED buttons, rich selection of user buttons, and built in touch screen menu and remote shotbox options.

“The XT2000 switcher was designed based on significant customer feedback,” said Hiro Tanoue, President of FOR-A Corporation of America. “Users of the XT2000 will find it to be a value rich, efficient, and easy to operate system that gives them limitless capabilities in their video production environment.”

The XT2000 is ideal for a wide variety of applications, including OB truck, live event, television studio, house of worship and educational settings. The switcher will start shipping in Q1 2015.
