EV at the James Burton International Guitar Festival

The fourth annual James Burton International Guitar Festival was held at the Municipal Auditorium in the guitar legend’s birthplace of Shreveport, La. from Aug. 21 through Aug. 22. The festival raises funds for the James Burton Foundation, whose charitable work includes purchasing guitars for schools. This year the festival’s theme was A Tribute to Elvis, and featured performances by guitar heavyweights including Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Doyle Dykes, Steve Lukather, Albert Lee, and Junior Brown, all of whom sounded superb thanks to a state-of-the-art Electro-Voice sound system.

The festival kicked off on Friday night with a 70th birthday bash for James Burton, featuring live music from regional bands performing through Electro-Voice RE Series mics and an XLC line array system powered by remote-controlled Precision Series amplifiers. The second day of the Festival featured a Guitar Showdown talent competition at the Louisiana State Fair Grounds, more live music, and an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for largest guitar ensemble. The festival ended with a “James Burton & Friends” concert on Saturday night, which featured a lineup of guitar luminaries.
