New IPD100, offering remote touch panel or tablet integration, ships January 25th

SALT LAKE CITY, January 5, 2011 – Bringing the benefit of IT network integration to an iPod docking station, ClearOne®, a global communications and entertainment solutions company, introduced the first iPod dock for its NetStreams® DigiLinX™ and ClearOne VIEW™ A/V distribution and control systems.  The new dock, Model IPD100, enables system-wide delivery of music from an Apple® iPod and features a built-in network connection that streams metadata, including cover art or other associated images, to any number of devices connected to ClearOne's IP-based DigiLinX or VIEW system.   The IPD100 is available for shipment January 25.

When used in conjunction with the company's SpeakerLinX or TouchLinX encoder/amplifiers, the IPD100 offers a new, lowest-cost solution for system-wide streaming of audio content and metadata from an Apple iPod, iTouch, or iPhone.

"This is a new, better, easier, less costly way to use an iPod with NetStreams DigiLinX or ClearOne VIEW," said Michael Braithwaite, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for ClearOne, referring to the company's residential and commercial market A/V distribution and control systems. "We've leapfrogged competitors by providing a simple one-plug solution for both controlling the player and distributing metadata and cover art on truly a system-wide basis."

According to Braithwaite, the new IPD100 works with all iPhones, iPod Touch (1st, 2G, 3G), iPod Classic and Nano (2G, 3G, 4G, 5G) players.  The dock's network interface, both 10Base-T and 100Base-TX compatible, enables GUI controllers – such in-wall touchpanels, iPads, or tablet PCs – located anywhere on a DigiLinX or VIEW network to control  browsing, playback, metadata retrieval, and artwork retrieval, as well as the player's settings for shuffle, repeat, and playlist selection all at the touch of a button.  When connected to a SpeakerLinX or TouchLinX encoder/amplifier, the IPD100 enables system-wide streaming of iPod audio files with individual zone control over audio playback.  The dock's footprint is 4.25" across and 3.5" deep.  Currently, IPD100 is offered in white only.
