West Kingston, RI – September 22, 2010 – APC, a global leader in integrated critical power and cooling services, recently launched a new proactive charitable giving program, Community ImpACT. The program is designed to encourage employee engagement with a focus on partnerships and programs in education, the environment, global citizenship, science and technology, and innovation in the Rhode Island community.
“As a company we are committed to playing an active role in our communities, and employee involvement and engagement is one of the most important ways we can make a significant impact,” said Laurent Vernerey, President and CEO, APC. “By transforming our energy into action through the Community ImpACT program, APC is putting a more concentrated focus on forging long-term relationships with local charitable partners that align with the company’s global vision and mission.”
On September 16, employees in Rhode Island and Massachusetts engaged in the Community ImpACT program with a “Day of Action” supporting partners in Rhode Island. Nearly 300 employees participated at 12 locations around the state together performing over 2,300 hours of service with our partners. Activities included, landscaping, painting, construction, cleaning, and much more.
“Receiving support from partners in the community, like APC, is critical to helping the City Year corps members give a year and change the world by serving as tutors, mentors and role models to school children, reclaiming public spaces and being a critical partner in alleviating the high school drop out crisis,” said Jennie Johnson, Executive Director, City Year Rhode Island. “The contributions made by APC through volunteerism and funding will truly impact our efforts to transform the schools and communities in Rhode Island.”
Community ImpACT partners include City Year Rhode Island, The French-American School of Rhode Island, Institute for International Sport, Junior Achievement, Save the Bay, The SMILE Program, and United Way of Rhode Island.
