NEC Display Solutions of America Partners with Wood Family Foundation in Transforming Classrooms in Chicago
Posted on Monday, September 9, 2019

NEC Display Solutions of America has partnered with the Wood Family Foundation and their Pitch In mentoring program to help transform classrooms for some well-deserved students in Chicago.  The foundation, founded by retired Chicago Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood and wife Sarah in 2011, facilitates collaborative relationships between school partners and families to provide support and opportunities to empower students to succeed in middle school, high school, and beyond.

NEC Display is providing desktop displays, projectors and large format displays to help with technology upgrades to some newly renovated classroom spaces at Sumner Elementary in North Lawndale and Moos Elementary in Humboldt Park.  "It has been great working with this organization and seeing all the wonderful things they are doing to help students reach their full potential.  We wanted to be a part of making that possible. "according to Kristin Spiewak, Industry Marketing Manager for NEC Display.

The Pitch In program matches NEC's vision of transforming learning spaces.  NEC has a long history in the education technology space and wanted to be a part of helping support students with the latest technology and provide exciting new learning tools.

"We're incredibly grateful for this donation to our Pitch In classrooms," says Pitch In Vice President, Sarah Wood. "Our curriculum is greatly enhanced when our students get to utilize technology to further live up to their potential, and NEC is making that possible for us."

WFF believes that despite the curveballs that life circumstances may throw, everyone deserves a chance to reach their full potential. WFF engages with partner schools to improve the culture of the middle grades (4th-8th grade), adds school-day capacity that aligns to principals' visions for their school communities, provides access to an abundance of resources, and focuses not only on students, but also on their families.
