The HyperLink HGLN-CAT5EJW lightning protector provides superior lightning and surge protection with improved frequency response for indoor 10/100 Base-T Ethernet networks. In addition, the unit is compatible with 802.3af Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) devices. Integral to the design is protection for the four Ethernet data pairs and the PoE DC power feed.

This unit supports normal and reverse polarity PoE used in some Cisco Access Points. The HGLN-CAT5EJW is compatible with Wireless Access Points, Access Servers and Routers, with or without Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) functionality.

The unit features a low capacitance diode array that can withstand large surge currents. The design utilizes a Thyristor diode which switches to a low impedance state once triggered. This offers superior power handling capability compared to TVS or Zener diode based designs. The limits are +/- 58 volts on the four cable pairs.

The HGLN-CAT5EJW features shielded RJ45 jacks. This along with the unit's metal housing helps reduce the effects of EMI interference. A ground lug and terminal is provided directly on the lightning protector housing, providing superior grounding. A second ground and terminal is provided for strapping multiple units together.
